Content is the name of the game. Every great website requires great content. The thing is that there are hundreds (if not more) of other websites just like yours trying to get seen. In a world where everyone uses Google or another search platform to find solutions, you’ve got to stand out.
It’s one thing if your competitors aren’t really trying to stand out. But what if they are? The market is competitive in almost every industry now. It’s up to you to figure out how you can make content stand out from others.
Check out these tips to make your on page content stand out.
Make it Interesting
If your page seems drab, it most likely is. And if it appears to be a little drab to you, imagine what other people visiting probably think. From content writing to graphics, you’ve got to make the page interesting.
There are several ways to do this. For example, what kind of color scheme do you use? We’re guessing you stick to your brand colors. That’s totally fine but how many colors do you have on your color wheel? Do you just have a couple of simple colors or have you also added in some accent colors?
We are not saying you have to get crazy. You certainly don’t have to use 100 different colors. You don’t have to go neon or make the colors overwhelming. But you also don’t want it to be boring. Use just enough pop of color to make it appealing.
Another way to make it interesting is to choose your fonts wisely. You do need to again choose some brand fonts and stick to a few options but you should have a variety. Maybe a simple font, bold font, and even some sort of script or Italic font to change it up here and there.
Don’t Get Too Wordy
Readers like things to be short and sweet. They want to be presented with the information they need and have the option to read more or find out more if needed.
When someone comes to your page and just sees this giant block of text, chances are their eyes are going to glaze over. It’s ok to have a lot to say. It’s ok to provide the basics and then offer the person the chance to read more.
The best practice is simply to find a way to break up the monotony. Separate paragraphs into two or three lines and then find ways to break it up and separate it. Graphics, fun additions, and even just a line break can make major differences.
It can be very overwhelming to click into a page and look at text that just runs all together. It makes it hard to skim through or even break up the reading if they might not be able to read it all at one time.
We’re not saying you can’t say what you need to say. We are saying you should find ways to break it up and make it more interesting and attractive in the process.
Find the Hook
What are you doing to hook people? Your on page content needs to be designed to draw them in. Think of the bait and the customer is the prize. The hook is a tool that entices a reader to you.
What you use to hook people will very likely differ from what others use. There’s not necessarily a right or wrong way to hook. You just need something. Don’t overthink it. This is the first part and it is where you get their attention. Once you get their attention, you also need to hold it.
So the first part is the hook. This is the drawing factor. Once you get the hook and get their attention, find some way to engage them and keep them on the line. This might be sharing a story or highlighting the value of a service.
Finally, you make them the offer. This is the part where they make the purchase because you hooked them and then convinced them. Now, make the sale.
In a perfect world, this will work the majority of the time. It is a great process to follow on page and it leads to success.
Don’t Lose Focus
Finally, you need to remember that this is your content and your business. While there are tips to get the best success, don’t lose focus of who you are in the process. Yes, you do want to stand out, you do want to hook them and then offer them your service, you do want to keep it interesting.
You also want to keep things unique in your own way. You don’t want to look like every other business just like yours. The way to stand out is to use the tips to do so but also make your content your own.
It’s ok to use inspiration and ideas but you don’t want to be just like the other guys. For this reason, your content needs to be individual and unique. It’s not always about matching the competition.
Don’t lose sight of what your business stands for and what you are trying to accomplish. Your success is largely dependent on being individualized. Even when you fall into routine tips that every business is using, you’ve got to continue to be who you are. It’s that individuality that sets you apart.
Stand Out with On Page Content
On page content matters just as much as SEO factors. In fact, it’s the on page content that is ultimately going to get you a customer or bring a customer back hopefully. This is your chance to make a statement. This is your chance to stand apart.
You pretty much have a blank canvas here. When you follow simple tricks like using a pop of color, incorporating effective headlines and wording, and even hooking the reader, that’s where the magic happens. The best part of all is that you can remain incredibly unique and still do these things.
