Big Time Studios announced this week when it plans to add PvP to its game Big Time. The new mode rolls out on December 2. Following the Preseason Phase, when the game was in closed beta, the studio is rolling out PvP for players, who can spend their $BIGTIME tokens to enter specific arenas where they can battle other players. The matches, which will last between 30-45 minutes, will feature a variety of different gameplay objectives.
According to Big Time Studios, its self-titled action RPG game achieved several milestones while in the Preseason Phase, including nearly 1.4 million unique platform users and 310,681 players in the Preseason Phase. It also reports almost 2 million digital collectibles sold and around $443 million in total marketplace volume. The studio claims that Big Time is the most successful NFT game of 2024.
Big Time Studios first revealed alpha gameplay for its title in 2021, after it raised $21 million to bring NFTs to game economies in the same year. Players in Big Time can earn high-value NFTs and earn tokens by accomplishing in-game objectives. NFTs are primarily cosmetic and can be traded, while items that offer in-game bonuses cannot be traded. According to the studio, Big Time’s NFTs are optional for those players who don’t wish to partake.
Big Time is just one part of the company’s efforts to expand the utility and accessibility of Web3 gaming and NFTs. The studio also recently announced the OL utility token for its OpenLoot platform, which simplifies crypto transactions and offers options that don’t require high gas fees. Open Loot is the foundation of Big Time’s sales mechanisms, and it’s also partnered with five other games for the launch of the OL token: MMORPG World Shards, action game Boss Fighters, mobile RPG Shatterpoint, looter shooter The Desolation and first-person shooter One Tap.
