As the Spring Festival approaches, Dongying, located in East China’s Shandong province, has unveiled an exciting lineup of cultural and tourism activities designed to immerse visitors in the festive spirit.
With over 1,000 events spanning five major categories, the city promises a rich array of experiences, including folk performances, stunning lantern displays, and exhibitions highlighting intangible cultural heritage.
The Sixth Dongying Lantern Festival at Bailu Garden
Bailu Garden in Dongying district will host the much-anticipated Sixth Dongying Lantern Festival. From the first to the 16th day of the Spring Festival, visitors can explore over 70,000 square meters of creative and intricate lantern displays. The festival also features mesmerizing performances such as datiehua (striking iron flowers) and dazzling fireworks shows. Food lovers can savor over 120 local delicacies, while adventure enthusiasts can enjoy a 10,000-square-meter snow playground complete with snow tanks and motorbike rides.
Folk Performances and Light Tours in Liuhu Town
From the first to the seventh day of the Spring Festival, Liuhu town will come alive with an array of folk performances, interactive activities, and evening light tours. Visitors can enjoy five themed events showcasing more than 20 captivating programs, including acrobatic shows and traditional magic tricks. The vibrant atmosphere promises an unforgettable holiday experience.
Yellow River Intangible Cultural Heritage Market in Lijin County
Nanling village in Lijin county will host the Yellow River Intangible Cultural Heritage Market, where tradition takes center stage. The opening ceremony will feature Lijin’s traditional yangqin opera, a cherished cultural art form. Guests can explore cultural heritage exhibitions, enjoy folk performances like the Yellow River labor chant, and participate in immersive workshops to experience the essence of folk culture along the Yellow River.
Folk Art Parade in Guangrao County
On the 11th day of the first lunar month, Guangrao county’s folk art troupes will take to Le’an Street for a lively parade. Featuring yangko dances, stilt walking, dragon dances, lion dances, and other traditional performances, the parade offers a captivating showcase of local artistry and community spirit.
