Macao is ready to celebrate the Chinese New Year in grand style, inviting residents and visitors to experience the magic of its rich cultural traditions and modern entertainment. Organized by the Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO), the celebrations include the Parade for Celebration of Chinese New Year, Chinese New Year Activities, and the awe-inspiring Chinese New Year Fireworks Displays. These events are part of the prestigious “Happy Chinese New Year” program, showcasing Macao’s dynamic cultural and tourism scene.

As a participant in the global “Happy Chinese New Year” initiative led by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Macao highlights its ability to merge heritage with innovation. This year’s festivities amplify the city’s reputation as a cultural hub, delivering experiences that resonate with both tradition and modernity.
A Parade to Remember: The Year of the Snake
At the heart of the celebrations is the Parade for Celebration of the Year of the Snake, a spectacular showcase running from January 31 to February 16, 2025. This event brings the streets to life with artistic performances, dazzling floats, and vibrant cultural displays.
What to Expect:
On January 31 (Day 3) and February 8 (Day 11) of Chinese New Year, the parade will feature 17 elaborately designed floats, symbolizing the Snake’s wisdom, prosperity, and elegance.
Performances from over 30 troupes representing countries such as Macao, mainland China, Japan, Korea, India, and France will showcase diverse cultures, fostering international connections.
The parade will wind through central and northern districts, filling the city with an air of celebration and festivity.
Uniting Efforts for a Festive Spectacle
This grand parade is a testament to collaboration, with MGTO working alongside regional and international organizations to create a seamless and memorable event. MGTO Director Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes expressed pride in Macao’s ability to host events that celebrate cultural diversity while enriching the city’s global identity.
