Macao Welcomes Visitors from Around the World to the 2025 Chinese New Year Featuring the Golden Dragon Parade and Cultural Attractions
Friday, January 17, 2025
This Spring Festival, the Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) is set to dazzle residents and visitors with the 2025 Chinese New Year Activities, offering a vibrant blend of cultural celebrations and dynamic events. Featuring a two-day Community Roadshow and three breathtaking Chinese New Year Fireworks Displays, the festivities aim to highlight Macao’s unique charm as a world-class tourism and leisure hub while boosting the local economy.

A Festive Parade Welcomes the Year of the Snake

The Golden Dragon Parade, a highlight of the celebrations, will weave through local communities on the 1st and 2nd days of the Chinese New Year (January 29 and 30). The parade will showcase traditional dragon and lion dances, appearances by the God of Fortune, the three Gods of Happiness, Prosperity, and Longevity, and Macao’s beloved mascot, MAK MAK. Adding to the excitement, the Chinese Zodiac mascot for the Year of the Snake will join the entourage. These performances will bring a festive atmosphere to Macao’s districts, drawing visitors and boosting community vitality.

Dazzling Fireworks Illuminate Macao’s Skyline

The Chinese New Year Fireworks Displays, set against the stunning backdrop of the sea near Macau Tower, will take place on:

January 31 (3rd day of Chinese New Year) at 9:45 p.m.

February 4 (7th day of Chinese New Year, “Renri”) at 9:00 p.m.

February 12 (Lantern Festival) at 9:00 p.m.

Each 15-minute show will light up the sky, accompanied by specially curated background music broadcast on-site and on TDM – Radio Macao’s Chinese Channel (FM100.7). Spectators can enjoy the displays from six vantage points, including Anim’Arte NAM VAN and Avenida do Oceano in Taipa, for an unforgettable audiovisual experience.

Engaging Visitors Through Interactive Experiences

MGTO is introducing a fun-filled WeChat mini-program activity titled “The Snake Dazzles for the Joyful Spring Festival”. Running from January 20 to February 17, participants can engage in themed games like “Pave the Blissful Way, Fish Leaps over Dragon Gate” and “Spring Festival Couplets Kick off the Year of the Snake” for a chance to win prizes.

Gathering Feedback for Future Enhancements

To ensure the success and continuous improvement of the Chinese New Year celebrations, MGTO will collect feedback through questionnaires available at event venues, ports of entry, and online. Opinions from both residents and visitors will guide future event planning and promotions.
