Thursday, January 16, 2025
The 2025 Rio de Janeiro Carnival is poised to cement its position as the world’s most spectacular cultural celebration. Promising a blend of tradition, innovation, and diversity, this year’s festivities aim to attract record-breaking attendance and captivate revellers from every corner of the globe.
A Celebration of Joy and Tradition Starting February 1st
Kicking off on February 1st, the street carnival will transform Rio’s streets into a vibrant mosaic of music, dance, and joy. The 2024 carnival welcomed an astounding 6 million participants, but 2025 is set to surpass these numbers as even more revellers join the festivities. Iconic “blocos” (street parties) will bring the city to life, catering to diverse age groups and preferences, ensuring there’s something for everyone.

This new format has proven immensely popular, with tickets selling out as early as September 2024, leaving only a few VIP “camarotes” available. The extended schedule also encourages visitors to stay longer in Rio, providing ample opportunities to explore the city’s many other attractions.
Enhanced Rehearsals for a Premium Audience Experience
Adding to the excitement, technical rehearsals have been revamped to include two parades for each samba school. The second rehearsal will mirror the official presentations, complete with full sound and lighting systems. This ensures a preview of the dazzling performances, offering an unforgettable experience for spectators.
