At the heart of the week, the World Bogsnorkelling Championships thrums with cheerful excess, evidence that in Llanwrtyd Wells, the strange and the spectacular are never far apart.The Cider Cycle: A Scenic Ride with a TwistKicking off the month of August on Saturday is the 12th Annual Cider Cycle, a non-competitive event that promises to be a delightful experience for cyclists of all ages. This fun-filled bike ride, which will begin at 10 am, takes participants through the picturesque hills, lush forests, and valleys surrounding Llanwrtyd Wells. Designed to showcase the stunning countryside of Powys, the ride is open to mountain bikers of all skill levels. It attracts an estimated 80 cyclists, making it one of the most anticipated local events of the year. No pressure, just an opportunity to enjoy the natural beauty of the region while engaging in a little friendly exercise.Advertisement MTB Chariot Racing: A Unique Fusion of History and AdventureLater in the day, at 4 pm, attention will shift to the Manor Adventure Centre near Llanwrtyd Wells, where the MTB Chariot Racing event will take place. Unlike any other race, the chariots are built using traditional ancient Roman methods, incorporating mild steel, vulcanised rubber, and modern welding techniques. These one-of-a-kind chariots are designed to be pulled by two mountain bikes alongside each other. The goal is to race against the clock while demonstrating exceptional coordination and teamwork, as a charioteer balances the chariot during the race.This thrilling event is expected to attract around 10 teams from across the region, with the chance to win the title of world champions.
