September 20, 2025Hà Nội’s Hoàn Kiếm Lake will come alive with cultural vibrancy and artistic expression this October, as the Hoàn Kiếm Community Art Club, in collaboration with Frog Art, presents a special celebration for the Mid-Autumn Festival 2025. Titled Sắc Việt Trung Thu (Vietnamese Colours of Mid-Autumn), this program promises to be a truly immersive experience for both locals and visitors. Running every Saturday through October 2025, the event offers a wide array of artistic and cultural activities designed to bring the community together in celebration of Vietnamese traditions.A Family-Friendly Celebration of Vietnamese HeritageSet against the picturesque backdrop of Hoàn Kiếm Lake, the Sắc Việt Trung Thu program is all about connecting the past with the present. It provides an excellent opportunity for children, students, and visitors to explore and engage in traditional Vietnamese arts, particularly those tied to the Mid-Autumn Festival.Advertisement From the outset, the program offers a hands-on approach to cultural learning. Visitors can take part in creating Mid-Autumn Festival prints on recycled handmade paper, using gouache colors and traditional motifs. These prints not only introduce participants to the vibrant culture of Vietnam but also emphasize sustainability, as the materials used are recycled, making it both a creative and environmentally friendly activity.Creative Lantern Workshops and Traditional Craft RevivalA standout feature of the event is the lantern-painting workshop. Participants will have the chance to decorate lanterns made from dó paper, a traditional Vietnamese material, using folk-inspired patterns. Lanterns are an iconic symbol of the Mid-Autumn Festival, and this activity invites participants to express their creativity while preserving a cherished Vietnamese tradition.AdvertisementIn addition, the event revives a unique traditional craft—the making of edible rice powder figurines shaped like the twelve zodiac animals. Using natural food coloring, visitors can try their hand at crafting these beautiful figurines, which have been a staple of Vietnamese cultural festivities for generations. This activity is not only fun but also a celebration of Vietnamese heritage and craftsmanship.Phỗng Toys and Modern Artistic InterpretationsThe event also highlights Phỗng toys, which are inspired by the famous Đông Hồ folk paintings. Traditionally created from wood or clay, these toys are now reimagined with acrylic paints and modern paper-sculpting techniques, bridging the gap between traditional and contemporary Vietnamese art forms. Visitors can learn about this folk art and even create their own Phỗng toys to take home, providing a perfect blend of culture, creativity, and hands-on learning.Advertisement Art Classes and Interactive Workshops for All AgesThe Sắc Việt Trung Thu program goes beyond just workshops, offering an engaging and educational space for art enthusiasts of all ages. The program includes community art classes that teach watercolor, acrylic painting, and sketching. These classes are …
