September 17, 2025In celebration of the 2025 APEC Summit, the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism of South Korea, in partnership with the Korean Traditional Performing Arts Foundation (KoTPA), is set to host an extraordinary cultural event called Seorabeol Pungnyu. Started from September 12 to will run through October 29, 2025, this series of performances will unfold across Gyeongju, one of Korea’s most historically significant and culturally rich cities. With venues spanning Gyochon Traditional Village, Yukbuchon, and the Cheomseongdae Observatory, the event promises to offer a dynamic and immersive experience for both domestic and international visitors.The festival is intended to bring the vibrant traditions of Korea’s cultural heritage to life while celebrating the spirit of the APEC Summit. Featuring a total of 37 performances by over 700 traditional musicians, dancers, and performers from 31 ensembles, this event marks a significant moment in the tourism industry, inviting travelers to experience Korea’s history and artistry in a new light.Advertisement Bridging the Ancient and Modern with Seorabeol PungnyuAt its core, Seorabeol Pungnyu draws inspiration from Eumseongseo, Korea’s first royal music institute, and strives to merge the ancient with the contemporary. This event will highlight traditional Korean music, dance, and storytelling, while also introducing innovative elements to engage a wide range of audiences. The performances will honor the Silla Dynasty’s hwarang spirit and Korea’s Buddhist heritage, offering both a reflective and celebratory experience through sound, movement, and visuals.The event has been designed as an opportunity for both Koreans and international visitors to witness the enduring beauty of Korean culture, showcasing the nation’s history through music, song, and dance.
