October 12, 2025The Cultural Foundation, a prominent cultural centre within the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi), has announced two new exhibitions that will provide a new lens on the relationship between art, nature, and memory. The two exhibitions, ‘Two Clouds in the Night Sky‘, and ‘And After‘, opened on 9 October 2025 and will be on view until 22 February 2026. The exhibitions showcase a new generation of voices in contemporary art, and invite you to engage with the power of nature and language through new artistic languages.‘Two Clouds in the Night Sky’: Exploring Emirati Artist Mohamed Ahmed Ibrahim’s LegacyThe first exhibition, ‘Two Clouds in the Night Sky’, is a flagship solo showcase of the works of Mohamed Ahmed Ibrahim, one of the UAE’s leading contemporary artists. Known for his evocative and process-driven approach to art, Ibrahim has long drawn inspiration from the landscapes of Khor Fakkan, his hometown. His unique cipher forms, developed in the 1980s, are influenced by the intuitive gestures found in rock carvings and early desert landscapes.Advertisement The exhibition, which takes its title from Ibrahim’s latest series of cloud-inspired pieces, reveals the deeply personal connection he has with the landscapes around him. The pieces reflect his ongoing dialogue with memory, environment, and abstraction. A key feature of the exhibition is a constellation of papier-mâché sculptures displayed in the atrium, which combine elements of nature, ruin, and dream-like landscapes. This comprehensive exhibition highlights Ibrahim’s evolving artistic practice, bringing together works from four thematic sections: In Transit, Traces Made Visible, Shapeshifters, and Where the Land Turns to Play. It includes his recent cloud and insect series, which break form into rhythmic abstractions, as well as pieces from his ‘Sitting Man’ series (2010-2015). It also features never-before-seen works such as ‘Sitting Woman Only One’ (2010), and archival pieces like Draped Trees (1996) and Khorfakkan Circles (2004). The exhibition’s finale will feature Ibrahim’s newly commissioned installation, Time | Place | Void (2025), which is an architectural embodiment of his iconic line drawings.Advertisement‘And After’: An Artistic Exploration of Air, Language, and NatureRunning concurrently with ‘Two Clouds in the Night Sky’ …
