October 10, 2025By: Tuhin SarkarWorld Travel Market (WTM) London 2025 has once again proven its dedication to positive change with its ongoing support for the charity Just a Drop. Through generous donations and the exhibition’s long-term commitment, World Travel Market (WTM) London continues to make a tangible difference in the lives of communities worldwide. The recent success of projects like the Katethya sand dam in Kenya and improved sanitation in Nicaragua highlight the importance of clean, accessible water. These initiatives are a direct result of attendee donations and exhibitor contributions, driving WTM’s mission to support global development. WTM London’s 2025 edition promises even more collaboration to bring safe water and sanitation to those in need.A Life-Changing Sand Dam in Kenya: Providing Clean Water for 1,000+ PeopleOne of the most impactful projects funded by WTM London’s charity partner, Just a Drop, is the construction of a sand dam in Katethya, Kenya. Through a remarkable £16,000 raised at last year’s WTM London, a vital resource was provided for nearly 1,400 people in this rural community. This sand dam captures water in seasonal rivers, storing it in the dry months and filtering it naturally through the sand. When the rains come, water is trapped, filtered, and can be drawn through a hand pump. This process ensures clean, safe water for drinking, washing, cooking, and irrigation, ultimately transforming the daily lives of those who previously struggled with unsafe water.Advertisement Santa Isabela School in Nicaragua Benefits from WTM London’s SupportIn addition to the success in Kenya, Just a Drop’s recent work in Nicaragua also highlights the critical role WTM London attendees play in supporting life-changing water and sanitation initiatives. Santa Isabela School, located in northern Nicaragua, received much-needed improvements in its sanitation facilities. Prior to the upgrade, the school’s latrines were unusable, and there was no proper handwashing station, leading to poor hygiene and illness among the 28 children who attended. The installation of two new double pit latrines and a handwashing station has significantly improved both the health and privacy of the students. Moreover, teachers and parents were trained in maintenance and hygiene best practices, ensuring the long-term sustainability of the facility. How WTM London’s Donations Are Changing Lives GloballySince 1998, World Travel Market (WTM) London has been a key partner of Just a Drop, helping raise over £23,000, funding 19 water …
