A significant outdoor initiative, intended to highlight the importance of mountainous regions and foster ecological sensitivity, was recently organized. This special trekking expedition was meticulously planned and executed by the Directorate of Tourism Jammu, with the primary focus being the highly scenic and culturally rich Aithem-Pehad Devta trail. The event was specifically scheduled to commemorate the observation of World Mountain Day, ensuring that the profound relevance of conserving these vital ecosystems was duly reinforced among the participants. Through this well-structured effort, twin objectives were sought: the promotion of eco-tourism within the region and the celebration of Jammu’s mountain heritage, thereby encouraging a deeper connection between the youth and the natural environment that surrounds them.
The undertaking was carried out under the distinguished guidance of Mr. Vikas Gupta, Director Tourism Jammu, whose vision for sustainable tourism was clearly reflected in the event’s execution. Further strategic direction was provided by Mr. Aijaz Qaiser, Joint Director Tourism Jammu, ensuring all logistical and promotional elements were seamlessly handled. This concerted effort by the department underscored a proactive approach to developing adventure tourism while simultaneously embedding principles of environmental stewardship into regional consciousness. The enthusiasm surrounding the initiative was palpable, suggesting a growing appetite for nature-based activities that offer both physical challenge and cultural enlightenment within the diverse landscapes of Jammu.Advertisement
