The Global Tourism Economy Forum Heilongjiang 2025 successfully took place in Harbin, Heilongjiang Province, marking a key milestone for the region and for Macao, further solidifying its status as a world-renowned hub for tourism and recreation. The event, which for the first time was held outside of Macao, gathered tourism leaders, industry elites, and stakeholders from across the globe, focusing on innovative collaboration and exploring development opportunities in line with the theme “New Quality Productive Forces: Powering the Global Tourism Economy.”

The GTEF Forum, now in its 11th edition, gave a significant boost to the international visibility of Macao, enhancing its reputation as a global tourism and recreation center. The Forum emphasised Macao’s commitment to tourism diversification and its strategic positioning as a platform for international cooperation.

Uniting Industry Leaders for Sustainable Development

The opening ceremony of the forum was graced by Ho Hau Wah, Vice Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), along with key dignitaries such as Xu Qin, Secretary of the Heilongjiang Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), and Zurab Pololikashvili, Secretary-General of the UN World Tourism Organization (UNWTO). Their participation underscored the importance of the Forum in the global tourism dialogue.

The Forum highlighted Macao’s unique advantages, enhanced by support from China and its growing international connectivity. The discussions centred on the evolution of tourism as an economic driver and its role in fostering sustainable development across regions.
