The Highlander event, a well-known adventure hiking experience, will return to Ras Al Khaimah for its fifth edition from February 6th to 8th, 2026. This thrilling event, hosted in collaboration with the Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority (RAKTDA), provides participants with a one-of-a-kind opportunity to explore the UAE’s highest peak, Jebel Jais, and the surrounding Hajar mountain range. The event has grown in popularity on a global scale, with over 250 participants from 35 countries last year, cementing Ras Al Khaimah’s reputation as a top adventure tourism destination.

A Multi-Trail Adventure for All Skill Levels

Ras Al Khaimah’s Highlander event caters to adventure enthusiasts of all experience levels, with participants having the opportunity to tackle three distinct trails. The routes span across the rugged terrain of the Hajar mountain range, providing an immersive experience in one of the UAE’s most striking natural landscapes.

For those with advanced hiking skills, the Highlander Pegasus challenge is the ultimate test. Over three days, hikers cover a 37 km distance, with two trail options—Wadi Latibah or Wadi Ghalilah—allowing participants to select the route best suited to their abilities. For those seeking a more moderate experience, the Highlander Orion offers a two-day, 25 km hike. Participants are required to carry their personal gear for an overnight stay, making it a challenging yet rewarding experience. For beginners or those simply looking for a lighter trek, the Highlander Lyra trail offers a one-day, 13 km hike through breathtaking landscapes, ensuring all participants can partake in the event regardless of their level of experience.
