The Engineering Feats of Kai Tak Sports Park
A significant milestone was achieved at the Kai Tak Sports Park, situated along the picturesque Kowloon Bay, where the application of precision engineering was observed. Specialized air-cushion transfer machinery and high-capacity lifting equipment were utilized to manage the stadium’s intricate flooring systems. A hybrid turf, composed of 95 percent natural grass and 5 percent synthetic fibers, was successfully hoisted and relocated to a dedicated nursery using modular lawn technology. This process allows the main stadium to be adapted with extreme efficiency.
According to Tang King-shing, the director of strategic planning at the facility, the stadium was designed to be a versatile cultural venue. Following the conclusion of the 15th National Games, the turf was removed to prepare the site for high-caliber events supported by tailor-made facilities.
