January 22, 2026The Sebastopol Center for the Arts is thrilled to announce a new show, The Unknown Thiebaud: Passionate Printmaker, which will be on display from January 10 to March 8, 2026. The exhibition introduces to the public, for the first time ever, a whimsical and limited prints collection of the legendary American painter Wayne Thiebaud, thereby putting the spotlight on his lesser-known works. These prints, most of which have not been shown in public before, provide a special glimpse into the artist’s creative process and his devotion to printmaking throughout his life.Thiebaud, widely celebrated for his iconic depictions of everyday American objects and cityscapes, also explored the medium of printmaking throughout his career. His first print was made by running pieces of linoleum through his mother’s washing machine, an early indication of his inventive and unconventional approach to the medium. The Unknown Thiebaud exhibition brings together a stunning selection of prints from over six decades, focusing on recurring themes such as food, landscapes, and cityscapes.
