A.R. Rahman, the two-time Academy Award-winning composer known for film scores including “Slumdog Millionaire” and “127 Hours,” announced the launch of ARR Immersive on Apple Vision Pro. The app becomes available on July 22 and represents the composer’s entry into spatial computing experiences for the headset platform.
The application draws from Rahman’s prior work in immersive formats, including content originally created for “Le Musk,” a 360-degree virtual reality film that debuted at the Cannes XR Festival. The app reworks this footage to suit Apple Vision Pro’s spatial capabilities. Beyond existing material, ARR Immersive features original content developed specifically for the platform, including three Kathak dance performances that combine Western orchestral arrangements with Indian classical dance. These performances feature dancers Pranith AP, Palak Chauhan, and Mudra IV, with choreography credited to Shrita Baskar.
The initial launch includes a dedicated section called ARR Live, which showcases Rahman’s concert performances. The app will be available through the Apple App Store, with plans for a future release on Meta Quest devices. Additional titles are in development for subsequent releases.
Rahman commented on the project’s creative vision, describing music as an emotional experience beyond passive listening. He stated that technological advances now enable audiences to feel present within performances rather than simply observing them, positioning the app as a space combining music, storytelling, and innovation for personal and emotionally engaging experiences.
