Adam Driver Has Passed on So Many Marvel Roles That It’s Become a “Tradition,” Kevin Feige Says

Kevin Feige, president of Marvel Studios, disclosed during a recent podcast appearance that actor Adam Driver has declined multiple offers to appear in MCU projects with such frequency that the rejections have become routine. Feige stated that the studio remains interested in working with Driver and described their interaction pattern as one where they connect via video call before Driver declines participation. The executive noted that Driver has been straightforward about his reasons for passing on the opportunities.

Feige did not specify which particular roles or projects he had proposed to Driver. Speculation on social media has centered on the possibility of Driver being considered for casting in an upcoming big-screen X-Men film currently in development at Marvel, though no official announcements regarding talent for the project have been made.

Driver’s reluctance to join the MCU does not appear to stem from an aversion to blockbuster filmmaking, given his prominent role as Kylo Ren across three films in the Star Wars sequel trilogy. The actor has maintained a diverse career that balances major studio productions with independent projects, including work in films ranging from acclaimed dramas to high-budget action franchises. Most recently, Driver has expressed continued interest in the Star Wars universe; he had been developing a standalone film focused on his character Kylo Ren with director Steven Soderbergh, though Disney ultimately canceled that project despite support from Lucasfilm.
