Jacobsen, a Pulitzer Prize finalist and bestselling author, will likewise serve as co-creator and executive producer on the series. Kelly Funke has also been attached as an executive producer. Jacobsen’s previous novel, “Nuclear War: A Scenario,” published in 2024, achieved international bestseller status and is currently being adapted for film by Legendary Entertainment, with Denis Villeneuve attached to direct.
Macmanus maintains an overall production deal with Universal Global Television and is currently developing multiple projects, including the documentary series “Devil in Disguise: John Wayne Gacy” for Peacock and a forthcoming installment focused on serial killer Richard Ramirez. He is also adapting John Grisham’s “The Boys From Biloxi” for the studio.
