AgentSolar AI, founded by Tursun Ablekim, has introduced a platform designed to address the persistently high soft costs associated with residential solar installations in the United States. The startup was established by Ablekim, who previously worked at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory and First Solar, bringing significant industry expertise to the problem.
Ablekim identified a substantial market inefficiency after analyzing more than one million data points. His research indicated that U.S. homeowners paid approximately $2 billion more than fair market prices in 2025, a premium he characterized as an unnecessary sales-related cost imposed on consumers. This disparity exists despite decades of solar panel efficiency improvements, suggesting the problem stems from sales processes and customer acquisition practices rather than underlying hardware limitations.
The AgentSolar AI platform operates as an automated advocate for consumers, moving beyond passive information tools to actively negotiate on their behalf. The system includes specialized components such as a Quote Evaluation Agent that can process detailed proposal documents, extract financial information, and compare terms against market data. A Company Research Agent independently verifies installer credentials and historical performance. The platform’s distinguishing feature involves taking proactive steps, including developing counteroffers and sending automated communications to secure improved pricing and terms.
The company has implemented human oversight into its operations, with system administrators reviewing all communications generated by the AI. Under this model, consumers receive finalized offers only after the platform has determined acceptable deal terms have been reached. The initiative represents one approach to reducing soft costs, though industry experts acknowledge that permitting processes remain a separate challenge requiring additional solutions to fully address solar installation affordability.
