Element Pictures Names Former Sky and HBO Publicist Chris Duggan as First Head of Communications and Marketing (EXCLUSIVE)

Element Pictures has announced the appointment of Chris Duggan to lead its newly established communications and marketing department. Duggan will assume the position of head of communications and marketing, reporting to the company’s founders and co-CEOs Ed Guiney and Andrew Lowe.

Duggan brings extensive background in entertainment publicity and communications. Most recently, he held a senior communications position at Sky, where he worked on programming including “The Day of the Jackal,” “Lockerbie: A Search for Truth,” and “The Tattooist of Auschwitz.” Prior to joining Sky, Duggan led communications for local original programming at HBO Max in Europe and contributed to global campaigns for HBO U.S. productions such as “True Detective” and “Westworld.” He initiated his television publicity career at the BBC, where he promoted drama series including “Doctor Who,” “Sherlock,” and “Line of Duty.”

In his new role, Duggan will oversee all aspects of Element Pictures’ external relations, encompassing festival activity, awards campaigning, and social media channels. The appointment comes as Element marks its 25th year in operation and continues to expand its portfolio across both film and television.

Element Pictures, which was acquired by Fremantle in 2022, has generated significant industry recognition in recent years. The company’s film “Bugonia,” created in collaboration with director Yorgos Lanthimos, received four Oscar nominations including best picture. Additionally, “Pillion” by Harry Lighton and “My Father’s Shadow” by Akinola Davies Jr. both secured awards at Cannes in 2025 and received multiple nominations and wins at the British Independent Film Awards and BAFTAs. On the television front, Element recently announced an adaptation of David Nicholls’ “We Are Here” in partnership with the BBC, following the success of “Normal People.”

Duggan will commence his position in August, dividing his time between Element’s offices in London and Dublin.
