Ella Langley’s “Choosin’ Texas” has achieved 14 consecutive weeks at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart, matching a milestone previously held by Whitney Houston’s “I Will Always Love You” and Mariah Carey’s “We Belong Together.” The song first reached the No. 1 position in February and has maintained its standing throughout the following months.
The record tied by Langley applies specifically to songs by female performers without male-billed acts, distinguishing it from Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You,” which has accumulated approximately 22 weeks at No. 1 across seven years. In achieving this milestone, Langley has surpassed several other notable chart records, including Brandy and Monica’s “The Boy Is Mine” with 13 weeks, and songs by Destiny’s Child and Toni Braxton, each with 11 weeks.
For the chart week ending July 16, “Choosin’ Texas” generated 24 million official streams and 51 million radio airplay audience impressions, with 7,000 copies sold in the United States. In May, Langley was recognized with the Academy of Country Music’s award for female artist of the year.
Elsewhere on the Hot 100, rising country artist Stella Lefty achieved her first top 10 entry with “Boston” at No. 6. British singer Olivia Dean’s “So Easy (To Fall in Love)” climbed to No. 9 on the Hot 100 and topped the Radio Songs chart, while her previous single “Man I Need” declined to No. 10. Both songs have reached No. 5 on the Hot 100, with the tracks having charted for 41 and 46 weeks respectively.
