Gay Romance Podcast ‘Drive Thru Magic’ Casts Daniel J. Kim and Danielle Kennedy, Sets September Release Date (EXCLUSIVE)

A new scripted fiction podcast titled “Drive Thru Magic” has announced its cast and premiere date. The project, created by Briggon Snow and produced by Atypical Artists, will debut its first episodes on September 7 across all podcast platforms.

The podcast centers on a gay romance narrative set in an unusual location: a roadside drive-thru restaurant. The story follows two men who develop a connection through repeated interactions at the speaker box and car window. Daniel J. Kim will voice Louie, a pre-med student working at the drive-thru who falls for a regular customer. Snow will also star as Gabe, a young man managing his grandmother’s dementia who finds unexpected support through the voice at the speaker. Danielle Kennedy rounds out the main cast as Barb, a veteran drive-thru worker who serves as Louie’s closest friend.

Snow created the project in conjunction with Atypical Artists, with Lauren Shippen serving as executive producer. In discussing the show, Snow noted that development began in 2024 and that the material drew from personal experiences involving loss and change. According to Snow’s statement, the gay love story provided a framework for exploring themes of grief.

Atypical Artists has produced several audio fiction series, including “The Bright Sessions,” a science fiction drama, and “Rebel Robin: Surviving Hawkins,” a “Stranger Things” spinoff for Netflix. The company’s other projects include “Two Thousand and Late,” a dark comedy that received selection for the 2026 Tribeca Audio Showcase, and “In Strange Woods,” an original musical.

Recording for “Drive Thru Magic” concluded in Los Angeles earlier in the summer.
