Gold House Launches Gold House Studios, Unveiling A Slate Led By ‘The Boys’ Star Karen Fukuhara (EXCLUSIVE)

Gold House, a cultural organization known for championing films featuring Asian Pacific talent, announced the establishment of Gold House Studios, a production company dedicated to developing original and intellectual property-driven content. The new studio will be led by Christine Yi as head and Brian Nemes overseeing intellectual property and development, both serving as producers on studio projects.

Yi, who previously managed operations at Gold House Ventures and serves as general manager of Gold House Labs, outlined the studio’s mission to create compelling narratives with prominent roles for Asian Pacific talent while maintaining universal appeal. She emphasized that while cultural authenticity and representation remain core values, the studio’s primary success metric will be audience reach and resonance beyond niche communities.

The studio’s initial slate includes “Akiya,” a supernatural film starring Karen Fukuhara from “The Boys” and Robbie Amell, centering on a couple who discover their renovated Japanese countryside home harbors yōkai creatures and a demon entity. The project is being written and directed by Austin Osanai Everett. Additional scripted projects in development include the dramedy “This Way to Home” from writer-director Mel Mah and the television series “American Yokai,” an atmospheric horror drama from Keto Shimizu, known for “Legends of Tomorrow.”

Beyond original content, Gold House Studios is pursuing intellectual property adaptations, securing film rights to “Slitterhead,” a cult Japanese video game from Bokeh Game Studio created by Keiichiro Toyama, the designer behind the Silent Hill franchise. The studio is also developing unscripted digital content slated to begin filming in New York City later this year. Gold House CEO Bing Chen positioned the studio as part of the organization’s broader mission to demonstrate that culturally specific storytelling constitutes mainstream infrastructure rather than niche content.
