Discovery has secured distribution rights to the Friday the 13th prequel series Crystal Lake for HBO Max across Europe, the Middle East and Africa, with the exception of the United Kingdom and Ireland. The narrative takes place a year following Jason’s death by drowning in the town’s lake, as the appearance of two outsiders investigating Pamela’s background triggers a chain of events that causes local residents to reassess what they know about her.
The supporting ensemble features William Catlett as police chief Levon Brooks, along with performances from Devin Kessler, Cameron Scoggins, Gwendolyn Sundstrom and Callum Vinson in the role of young Jason Voorhees. Executive production duties are shared among Kane, A24 and a production team that includes Marc Toberoff, Victor Miller, Robert M. Barsamian, Robert P. Barsamian, Stuart Manashil, Tyson Bidner, Michael Lennox and Roy Lee.
