Following the proclamation, Leno will participate in an hour-long career retrospective conversation that will be moderated and recorded for broadcast as an episode of The Hollywood Reporter’s Awards Chatter podcast. After the discussion concludes, he will receive the Vanguard Award. The awards gala will be emceed by actress Kambra Potter.
The Vanguard Award has previously been presented to filmmakers and entertainment figures with connections to Burbank, including Quentin Tarantino, Tim Burton, and Paul Feig. BIFF President Anna Maybury stated that Leno’s career has shaped generations of comedy and late-night television, while also commending his philanthropic efforts. According to BIFF advisory board member Tony Muscio, Leno is scheduled to perform at Flappers Comedy Club following the awards ceremony.
