England competed in three successive weekend matches across three different continents, accumulating approximately 25,000 miles of travel during the period.
Earl highlighted the physical and logistical toll the arrangement has imposed on the squad. Players undertook four long-haul and four short-haul flights within a four-week span, leading to sleep disruption and compressed training windows. The recurring pattern of departure, family visits, and immediate departure again added to the strain on the playing group.
The player suggested consolidating the tournament structure by hosting all matches in a single nation to eliminate travel complications and create a festival atmosphere for the competition. While acknowledging he does not participate in format decisions, Earl characterized the current arrangement as particularly challenging given that it follows what many squad members consider an already demanding seasonal schedule.
England maintained its chances of reaching the final, scheduled for 29 November at Twickenham’s Allianz Stadium, following a victory over Argentina on Saturday. The competition will resume later in the year with the autumn leg, with England facing Australia on 8 November. Earl indicated that the squad will need to adapt to the current format, describing it as likely the beginning of what may become an established pattern for the tournament.
