Steven Moffat, known for creating the television adaptation of “Sherlock” and serving as showrunner for “Doctor Who,” has been announced as the international guest of honor at Serielizados-Barcelona Series Festival. He will attend alongside Sue Vertue, a producer who has worked on multiple acclaimed series including “Sherlock,” “Mr. Bean,” and the upcoming “Number 10.” Vertue also serves as CEO of Hartswood Films, one of the United Kingdom’s longest-established scripted production companies. The festival has not yet disclosed the specific topics that Moffat and Vertue will discuss during their appearance.
Serielizados is scheduled to run from October 19-28 and will feature programming centered on contemporary television production and industry trends. The festival opening will showcase “In Vitro,” a drama backed by HBO Max and Catalan public broadcaster 3Cat that explores themes within a fertility clinic. The festival will close with “Episòdic: El principi d’Arquimedes,” an experimental anthology series comprising six episodes of fifteen minutes each, created by students from various educational institutions.
The festival will also present other notable series including “Segunda Temporada,” a Filmin Original exploring the story of a former bestselling author, alongside programming celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Catalan soap opera “Nissaga de poder.” Additionally, Serielizados will host the second edition of Mind the Gap, a project pitching showcase featuring expanded participation from international production forums and competitions. The event, which draws attendance from broadcasters, production companies, and industry executives across Europe, attracted 16,000 in-person attendees in the previous year, with online viewership reaching approximately 194,000.
