Katherine Sciver-Brunt, a former England fast bowler, has accepted her first coaching role since retiring by joining Trent Rockets Women as an assistant coach for the 2026 edition of The Hundred.
Sciver-Brunt, who recently received an OBE for her contributions to cricket, compiled 335 international wickets over a three-decade international career. That achievement stood as a record until fellow England player Sophie Ecclestone surpassed it at Lord’s earlier this month.
In her statement, Sciver-Brunt expressed enthusiasm about returning to cricket in a mentoring capacity. She noted that the Rockets organization held particular significance for her, having represented the squad as a player between 2021 and 2023. The 41-year-old indicated she had spent the previous three years adjusting to life away from professional cricket following her retirement.
The appointment reunites Sciver-Brunt with her spouse, Nat Sciver-Brunt, who serves as England captain and was retained by the Nottingham-based franchise for this season. The couple has a son named Theo, born in March of last year. Sciver-Brunt will work under head coach Chris Read, joining a coaching staff that also includes Graeme White, a former Nottinghamshire spinner who will oversee fielding development. The Rockets’ first home matches of the tournament are scheduled for July 26 at Trent Bridge.
