Rule E3.1, under which Eckert has been charged, requires participants to act in the best interests of the game and prohibits conduct deemed improper or bringing the game into disrepute.
Southampton has stated that it remains “fully supportive” of Eckert and will “continue to cooperate fully and openly” with the FA’s investigation. In June, Eckert released a statement accepting full responsibility for the events and offering apologies to the club’s players, staff and supporters.
