Mustafa directed and wrote the screenplay, producing through his Norway-based company Hene Films AS in partnership with Janne Hjeltnes and John M. Jacobsen. True Colours, a sales company based in Rome, has taken on distribution responsibilities.
The project represents Mustafa’s fourth feature-length film and follows his 2023 documentary “Hiding Saddam Hussein,” which examined Iraq’s contemporary history. According to Mustafa, the current film draws inspiration from his personal interactions with women combatants who fought against ISIS, as well as from the experiences of Nobel Peace Prize recipient and human rights advocate Nadia Murad, who was captured during the 2014 Yazidi genocide.
