The Amanda Waller project was first reported to be in development in May 2022, preceding the appointment of James Gunn and Peter Safran as heads of DC Studios. “Paradise Lost” was subsequently announced as part of Gunn and Safran’s initial slate of DC projects in January 2023. Neither program had advanced to the series order stage at the time of cancellation.
Additionally, the “Booster Gold” television series, which was announced as being in development in 2023, is also not proceeding, as confirmed by series writer David Jenkins. DC Studios representatives declined to provide further comment on the decision.
Meanwhile, other DC projects continue to advance. The studio has greenlit the HBO series “Lanterns” featuring Kyle Chandler and Aaron Pierre, oversaw the launch of “The Penguin” (which was picked up prior to Gunn and Safran’s leadership), and produced the animated series “Creature Commandos,” which has been renewed for a second season.
