Busan’s Asian Contents & Film Market Names Japan 2026 Focus Country for Producer Hub

The Asian Contents & Film Market, a co-production networking initiative tied to the Busan International Film Festival, has designated Japan as its focus country for the current year. The recognition will bring a delegation of ten Japanese producers to Busan during the festival’s October dates to participate in project pitching, one-on-one meetings, and case-study sessions examining past collaborations.

Producer Hub entered its third year of operation and aims to support producers pursuing international co-productions by creating dedicated networking opportunities. The program rotates through a different focus country annually, using the selection to highlight that nation’s production landscape, incentive structures, and slate of developing projects. Korea held the inaugural focus country position in 2024, while Canada took the role in 2025, attracting 154 producers from 25 countries.

The 2026 edition has been expanded to run four days, from October 10 through 13, one day longer than the previous year’s format. Organizers added the extra day to allow participants more time for substantive discussions beyond initial introductions. The Japanese delegation will present in-development projects, explain the country’s production system, and participate in case studies focused on bilateral collaborations. Follow-up sessions have been specifically arranged to enable producers to continue conversations initiated during speed meetings.

Producer Hub’s partner network has grown significantly since its 2024 launch, expanding from eight organizations across seven countries to 13 organizations spanning 10 countries. Interested producers can submit applications through August 31 via the ACFM website. The broader Asian Contents & Film Market is scheduled to run October 10-13 at BEXCO’s Exhibition Center 2, coinciding with the 31st Busan International Film Festival, which takes place October 6-15.
