Seven major wind and solar development bases will be constructed across key regions including Xinjiang, the Hexi Corridor, the Yellow River Bend, northern Hebei, and the Songliao Basin. These facilities are projected to add no less than 370 gigawatts of new installed capacity over the five-year planning period. To address grid consumption and transmission challenges, the bases will incorporate complementary resources such as pumped-storage hydroelectricity, concentrated solar power installations, and newly developed energy storage technologies.
Beyond the large-scale base projects, the plan includes support for decentralized renewable energy development through various distributed wind and solar power installations. These complementary initiatives aim to create China’s most substantial clean power supply cluster while advancing the nation’s renewable energy transition during the coming five years.
