Halloween Horror Nights announced plans to incorporate Nikki, a character from the film Obsession, into the event starting September 3. The Nikki character will appear in various unexpected locations throughout the park, similar to the roaming Art the Clown performer from the previous year’s Terrifier collaboration. Unlike traditional scare actors, the performers portraying Nikki will speak, using dialogue written by Murdy and drawn directly from Barker’s film. Guests can find Nikki by locating a password shared on Universal’s social media, particularly Instagram Story. When guests provide the password to the performer, they receive the One Wish Willow phone number from the film, allowing them to call and hear an exclusive recorded message from Barker voicing the customer service representative character.
Murdy worked closely with Barker on the concept after reaching out to Focus Features. The filmmaker approved the activation idea, which combines interactive elements with scripted dialogue that allows the performer to engage or disengage with guests as appropriate. A production assistant will accompany the performer to ensure safety protocols are maintained.
The Nikki activation draws inspiration from past HHN collaborations, including a 2011 Hostel maze that featured interactive elements using a password system. The integration of film dialogue and interactive components reflects Murdy’s approach to creating immersive experiences that reward engaged fans while maintaining performer and guest safety during the event.
