Medical abortions, involving tablet-based treatment at home, account for about 90% of pregnancy terminations in Wales, England, and Scotland, where abortion is permitted up to 24 weeks with approval from two doctors.
The Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists emphasized that abortion care constitutes essential healthcare and must be accessible throughout Wales.
