The initial vehicle has been delivered to Sanyou Mining and is based on Tonly’s 120E series platform, equipped with Hina Battery’s Haixing series battery system.
The mining trucks are equipped with sodium-ion battery systems containing 676 kWh of energy storage capacity—a volume equivalent to the combined battery capacity of approximately 10 electric passenger vehicles. This represents a significant deployment of sodium-ion battery technology, which has gained attention in the electrification sector as an alternative to lithium-ion solutions.
Hina Battery introduced its Haixing series battery system in March 2025, with the company reporting cell energy density exceeding 165 Wh/kg. The system is designed to support fast charging, capable of reaching full capacity in 20-25 minutes while maintaining a cycle life exceeding 8,000 cycles under fast-charging conditions. The technology is engineered to operate across wide temperature ranges and support high-rate capability, addressing the operational demands and cost considerations specific to mining operations.
Conventional mining trucks rely heavily on diesel fuel consumption and generate substantial emissions. Electrifying heavy-duty mining vehicles through battery-powered alternatives presents potential economic benefits for mining operators while reducing environmental impact from fuel combustion in the sector.
