Elon Musk’s attempt at an AI Wikipedia hasn’t been updated in months

xAI’s Grokipedia, a project launched by Elon Musk as an alternative to Wikipedia using AI-generated content, appears to have stalled in its development. The platform initially launched in October 2025 in version 0.1 with approximately 885,000 articles and later released version 0.2 in November 2025, expanding the total article count to over 6 million. According to reporting from Lawfare, however, no updates have been made to the encyclopedia since April 24.

The platform still maintains a section on its website titled “Recent changes to…” but displays a message stating “No live edits available right now.” While users can continue to submit suggestions for new articles and edits to existing pages, analysis of over 34,000 pages with at least one suggested edit found no accepted or rejected corrections from the past three months, despite a total of approximately 225,000 recommended edits in the sample reviewed.

Musk had previously characterized the Grokipedia project as a “massive improvement” over Wikipedia. His last public mention of the project on X (formerly Twitter) occurred in February. xAI has not responded to requests for comment regarding the platform’s apparent lack of recent activity. The stalled development has prompted discussion among users on social media platforms, with some questioning whether the project has been abandoned.
