Liatard and Trouilh researched the condition extensively by consulting medical specialists and speaking with individuals who have recovered from it.
The filmmakers explained that they conducted interviews with doctors and young survivors to understand the condition’s reality before incorporating it into their narrative. They blended documentary elements with fictional storytelling to explore the emotional dimensions of their characters’ experiences. The film stars Douae Butarbuch M’Zaouki, Sayyid El Alami, Anamaria Vartolomei, Arcadi Radeff, and Omar Al Jbaai, with screenplay contributions from Guillaume Laurant, known for his work on ‘Amélie’ and ‘I Lost My Body.’ The Landes forest setting, featuring a lighthouse amid pine woodlands, provides both beauty and thematic resonance to the narrative about childhood resilience and imagination.
