Bhatia will assume the position of vice chairman at Liverpool and join the club’s expanded board. Bryan Baum from K5 Sports and Elaine Saverin will also receive board seats, though Bezos will not hold a position on the board. Fenway Sports Group stated that the new minority owners will provide expertise in global business, technology, and investment to support the club’s long-term objectives.
Liverpool competes in England’s Premier League and has won 20 league titles, with its most recent championship occurring in 2025. According to CNBC’s 2026 Global Soccer Team Valuations, Liverpool ranks as the fourth-most valuable soccer club globally, with a valuation of $6 billion. Bezos has previously explored ownership opportunities in National Football League franchises, including the Washington Commanders and Seattle Seahawks.
