Established filmmaker Harald Zwart is bringing the animated Viking epic “ViQueens” to the market, featuring voice talent including Ella Purnell and Rita Ora. Other recognizable names include Iceland’s Hilmar Oddsson with a drama about Alzheimer’s disease, Denmark’s Charlotte Sieling adapting a historical novel, and several Nordic directors making their feature debuts or returning after years working in television. Animation emerged as a particularly strong category this year, with three projects each in the co-production market and works-in-progress sections.
The Works in Progress section showcases 15 films selected from 43 submissions, representing a diverse range of genres and production stages. A separate closed market screening component will present 18 high-profile Nordic productions, including competition entries from major festivals and award-winning films.
Industry programming will include panel discussions on international success strategies for Nordic cinema, case studies examining specific films, and a dedicated session with seven leading Nordic literary agencies discussing book-to-screen adaptations.
