The script, written by Matthew Robinson, was reportedly conceived during the pandemic period, exploring themes of survival and family isolation that resonated with the director on a personal level.
Beyond “The Last House,” Leterrier remains attached to direct the eleventh and final installment of the Fast & Furious franchise, though production has been delayed by budgetary considerations as box office performance has shifted. He is also wrapping production on a science-fiction action thriller called “Liminal” for Apple and overseeing the fourth season of the Netflix series “Lupin,” which launches in October. Leterrier recently established a production company called Carrousel Studios with actor Omar Sy and producer Thomas Brenski.
