
Microsoft announced the introduction of new artificial intelligence-based security tools aimed at helping organizations automate the process of identifying and mitigating cybersecurity vulnerabilities.
The company introduced MAI-Cyber-1-Flash, described as a compact, specialized AI model built in-house for software vulnerability analysis and part of the broader MAI-Thinking-1 platform. The model is integrated into MDASH, a multi-model scanning system that combines 100 security-trained AI agents to discover exploitable bugs. According to Microsoft, the system achieved a 96 percent score on CyberGYM, a standard industry benchmark, outperforming comparable systems from Anthropic, Google, and OpenAI. Microsoft stated that the updated MDASH offering costs approximately half as much as its previous iteration.
Microsoft also unveiled Project Perception, a platform using specialized AI agents to conduct red team, blue team, and green team operations for vulnerability discovery, risk assessment, and remediation. The company said Project Perception is designed to perform 90 percent of typical security tasks at lower costs than competitor offerings, with customers relying on alternative platforms only for the remaining 10 percent of specialized work.
Microsoft attributed the development of these tools to accelerating cybersecurity threats and the complexity of modern digital environments. The company emphasized that traditional security approaches have become insufficient as organizations face increasingly sophisticated attacks. The tools are currently available in preview mode. The announcement came less than a week after a significant security incident involving OpenAI, though Microsoft made no direct reference to that event or addressed potential safeguards in its own systems.
