‘NAZA’ Documentary From ‘No Other Land’ Directors Acquired by MK2 Films Ahead of Venice Film Festival Premiere

French sales company MK2 Films has secured international distribution rights for “NAZA,” a documentary feature directed by Yuval Abraham and Rachel Szor. The film was added to the Venice Film Festival competition lineup, marking the only documentary feature in this year’s competition selection. The work is scheduled to premiere on September 10 during the festival, which runs from September 2 to 12.

The documentary was filmed on rooftops in Tel Aviv and examines military systems related to civilian casualties in Gaza, according to its official description. The title refers to a military acronym used by Israeli intelligence, as explained in materials from MK2 Films. The project was produced by The Guardian newspaper and JW Films, with executive producer Jonathan Glazer, who previously won an Oscar as part of the team behind “The Zone of Interest.”

Abraham and Szor previously co-directed “No Other Land,” which won the best documentary Oscar in 2025. That film documented the demolition of Palestinian structures in the Masafer Yatta region of the West Bank. The two Israeli filmmakers collaborated with Palestinian co-directors Hamdan Ballal and Basel Adra on the earlier project, which premiered at the Berlin Film Festival.

“NAZA” builds on investigative reporting published by multiple outlets including the Israeli-Palestinian publication +972, the Hebrew-language Local Call, and The Guardian between 2023 and 2025. The film is a Guardian production developed with JW Films, in association with Placeholder Films and Unseen Hand.

Nathanael Karmitz, CEO of MK2, and managing director Fionnuala Jamison stated that the company was drawn to the film’s cinematic approach and journalistic rigor, noting that it aligns with MK2’s commitment to presenting challenging documentary work to audiences.
