According to Debra Hennessy of Family Nursing and Home Care, the timing provides an opportunity to highlight breastfeeding and underscore the importance of ensuring families can access necessary support services.
The charity indicated that the new equipment and clinic would serve multiple objectives, including improving access to breastfeeding support, removing financial obstacles for families, and enabling mothers to continue breastfeeding longer if they choose to do so. The organization aims to support families experiencing feeding difficulties, premature births, delayed milk supply, or other related challenges, with capacity to serve up to 160 mothers.
The Pathways clinic represents an expansion of service locations, particularly benefiting families in the eastern part of the island by enhancing local accessibility. The Jersey Community Foundation provided funding for the hospital-grade pumps and pump kits, while the Coop Community Fund contributed toward the purchase of the maternity recliner chair.
