The film completes the slate of 17 feature films selected for competition in the official category, where entries will vie for the Golden Shell and other official awards. The competitive lineup includes new works from established and emerging directors including Roberto Bueso, Fred Cavayé, Jesse Eisenberg, Nicole Garcia, Pablo Larraín, Mike Leigh, and Hans Petter Moland, alongside debut features from several filmmakers.
Akin is an accomplished filmmaker with an extensive body of work spanning multiple decades. His previous films have earned recognition at major international festivals, including a Golden Bear at Berlin for “Head-On” in 2004, a best screenplay award at Cannes for “The Edge of Heaven” in 2007, and a special jury prize at Venice for “Soul Kitchen” in 2009. More recently, his 2017 film “In the Fade” earned Diane Kruger recognition as best actress at Cannes and won the Golden Globe for best foreign-language film.
