‘Star Trek’ 60th Anniversary Events Include Original Series & Films Screenings, Vulcan Salute World Record Attempt (EXCLUSIVE)

The Star Trek franchise is preparing to commemorate its 60th anniversary with a worldwide slate of events, screenings, and programming scheduled around the official anniversary date of Sept. 8. The celebration will span multiple mediums and locations, reflecting the franchise’s cultural significance across television, film, and live events.

Theatrical presentations will be a major component of the anniversary programming. More than 750 theaters across the U.S. will screen restored 4K presentations of classic Star Trek films paired with original series episodes from Sept. 4-8. Attendees will also have the opportunity to purchase limited-edition commemorative merchandise including themed popcorn vessels and drink cups. In Los Angeles, the Autry Museum will host a free outdoor screening on Sept. 8 featuring the original series episode “The Man Trap” and an advance screening of a “Star Trek: Strange New Worlds” episode, along with talent appearances, food trucks, and giveaways.

Television programming will contribute significantly to the anniversary celebration. Entertainment Tonight will air a special vault episode on Sept. 7 with interviews and archival footage. Game shows including The Price Is Right and Let’s Make a Deal will broadcast Star Trek-themed episodes on Sept. 8, while Nick at Nite will air a Big Bang Theory marathon focused on Star Trek episodes. Additionally, the second season premiere of Star Trek: Scouts will debut on YouTube on Sept. 8.

Global fan participation events are also planned, including efforts to break a Guinness World Record. On Sept. 8, the Science Museum in London will host an attempt to set a record for the most people performing the Vulcan Salute simultaneously. Supporting activations will take place at various locations worldwide, including takeovers of London Underground stations, special events at Movie Park Germany, and partnerships with organizations such as the European Space Agency, DarkSky International, and the National Park Foundation.
