A four-part adaptation of Stendhal’s “The Red and the Black” chronicles a young man’s efforts to achieve social advancement amid romantic entanglements and political intrigue.
Other programming includes “Country Spy,” which follows a retired French intelligence operative investigating criminal cases in her rural hometown, and “Super-Lucha,” a stop-motion animated series aimed at young viewers about masked vigilantes in a Mexican setting. “The Nefertiti Case” centers on efforts to preserve a museum exhibition after a priceless artifact is damaged. Gaumont’s “The Deal” depicts diplomatic negotiations between international powers over nuclear matters.
The market also features “Gaza, a People’s History,” a two-part documentary exploring the history and key moments in the Palestinian territory’s past. The previous year’s edition brought together approximately 150 buyers representing 40 countries, alongside more than 50 local distribution companies.
