Production company People Media Factory announced that Kannada cinema star Upendra has been cast in a significant role for “Zombie Reddy Nxt Lvl,” the follow-up to the 2021 hit film “Zombie Reddy.” The announcement coincided with lead actor Teja Sajja’s birthday. The original film centered on a game developer tasked with protecting his village after a scientist’s vaccine experiment triggers a zombie outbreak.
The sequel will mark the South Indian cinema debut of actress Shanaya Kapoor, known for “Tu Yaa Main.” Teja Sajja returns in his signature role as the franchise’s primary zombie-fighting character. Director Suparn S. Varma, who has worked on Prime Video’s “The Family Man” Season 2 and Netflix’s “Rana Naidu,” helms the project based on a story developed by original director Prasanth Varma.
The creative team includes composer Gowra Hari, whose work appeared on “HanuMan” and “Mirai.” Hussain Dalal, Prasanth Varma, and Suparn S. Varma contributed to the screenplay. Producers T.G. Vishwa Prasad and Krithi Prasad are overseeing the project through People Media Factory. The film will be distributed across seven languages: Hindi, Telugu, Kannada, Tamil, Malayalam, Nepali, and Japanese, targeting a global audience.
According to statements from the production team, the sequel aims to expand the scope and creative ambitions of the original film, introducing what they describe as an expanded zombie universe. The production is scheduled for release in 2027.
