Earlier in the year, the government initiated a 12-week consultation period addressing vape packaging, appearance, and shop display practices, with the intent of decreasing the products’ appeal to minors. Under these proposed measures, packaging would be standardized without prominent branding, and flavor descriptions would be simplified.
Recent legislation, including the Tobacco and Vapes Act, introduced a lifetime sales ban on tobacco products for individuals born after January 1, 2009. A survey conducted for the charity Action on Smoking and Health found that nearly one in five individuals aged 11 to 17 in Britain have experimented with vaping. Health organizations acknowledged that while vaping presents lower risks than traditional smoking, it remains associated with health hazards and should not be used by non-smokers, particularly children.
